Fashion designing is the most pursued career option amongst aspiring designers in India. 1. What is B.Des in Fashion Designing?

B.Des in Fashion Design is a four-year undergraduate course that focuses on delivering contemporary knowledge about apparel fashion design. The course will also teach you about the modern practices applied in designing these apparels.

To be eligible for this course, you must complete your 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized university. You must also secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in your exam. 

You may also have to appear for entrance exams of certain fashion designing colleges to seek admission. 

2. What are the different types of fashion design?

There are four types of fashion designing - Clothing, Footwear, Accessories, and Costume. Let’s take a look at them -

  • Clothing - In this type of design, you will learn about the process create apparel for men and women. It involves choosing a contemporary design and picking out the fabric that fits the apparel pattern. You will also learn about the importance of designing seasonal apparel.

Your average starting salary will range between INR 4 lacs to INR 7 lacs, depending on the company and job profile. However, your accumulation of experience will lead to growth in your salary.
